Why not extend the BookHero initiative to other countries where “you” could be the direct hero? If you are traveling abroad to any developing country, we will give you as many FREE books that you wish to carry to donate to local NGOs or schools.

Helping those with little or no access to books will make your trip a noble one to remember.

How Does This Work?

If you are traveling out of the United Arab Emirates and are ready to add value to your holiday, please email us at info@bookhero.in with your full name, dates of travel, country of arrival, and the approximate weight of books you will be able to carry.

We could also help you coordinate with NGOs / schools in the destination country to facilitate an easier reach.

FREE LIBRARIES FOR LOW-WAGE WORKERS

Our mission to contribute to building a reading nation includes making books ACCESSIBLE TO ALL. This is why we are always happy to set up FREE libraries at companies with a large number of blue-collar workers and in other industrial areas. Most of these people spend a long time living apart from their families and books can add great comfort to their lives.

How Does This Work?

We meet with companies and propose a reading spot where we allocate and deliver a few hundred books to. The collections are updated on a regular basis.

For industrial areas, we adopt different strategies that vary from case to case.

FREE EDUCATIONAL BOOK SWAP INITIATIVE 

This initiative, which was started back in 2016, facilitates the exchange of educational books. Since then, BookHero has swapped thousands of books for FREE and thus helped many families and students in their academic journeys.

We try to facilitate cost-effectiveness for families on a tight budget and also increase the life span of books by helping reuse them.

In August 2021, we went the extra mile by giving over 4000 educational books completely FREE of charge!

THE ANIMAL PROJECT

The Animal Project was the conceiving engine to start BookHero!
We spare our effort and partially finance with other like-minded businesses the wish to help and advocate general animal welfare related issues in the UAE!

How Does It Work?

We have been actively promoting sterilization campaigns in Dubai since 2006, allowing us to sterilize thousands of stray cats ever since. Our main vision is to humanly reduce stray populations.

We offer people various information on how to help strays, how to ship their pets back home, how to locate missing pets, how to home their pets in case of a change of circumstances, how to help with general animals in need, , etc. 

We fully finance our animal welfare designated helpline that replies to animal welfare situation here in the UAE. Our yearly replies through email, WhatsApp, and messenger are over 40000 queries! 

We have limited funds and no sheltering facilities, but our most precious asset is to encourage the community to take an active role in helping, and fostering animals in need until suitable homes are found. We encourage community members to sterilize strays on a regular basis. We promote rescuing and in general the importance of investing in kindness towards animals! 

The animal situation worldwide is caused by the community's neglect so the solutions should also come from the community’s involvement. Our active role has granted us 10 Gulf News Community Awards over the years.

We organize FREE animal welfare events to aid local challenges inviting well-known doctors such as Dr. Lori Marker (Namibia Cheetah Foundation) Dr. Rodger Mugford (UK-based animal behaviorist in association with Dubai Municipality, and (us) The Animal Project.

THE YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR PROJECT

It's never too early to introduce youngsters to some of life's responsibilities and if it happens through books - even better.

With The Young Entrepreneur Project, we hope to:

1. Promote the art of caring and being empathetic towards others

2. Initiate students into the art of negotiation and resourcefulness

3. Encourage teamwork and leadership. 

How do we do it?

Children and teenagers collect books from family, friends, neighbors, etc.

BookHero will buy these books (as long as they meet the quality conditions of our PRE-READ books).

We will encourage them to use the obtaining proceeds of their book sales to aid other community initiatives or further their school activities.

Young individuals acquire invaluable skills from working together and thinking about causes bigger than themselves.

Additionally, we provide a “Community Social Hours Appreciation Certificate” which will help them in their academic journeys!
