⚫ We have a few UNMANNED locations all over the UAE, where we use an honesty system to sell our books.

⚫ We have recently started operating online, where you can access a variety of affordable books in all genres with just the click of a button.
⚫ Our one-of-a-kind ‘BookHero Café’ offers the perfect setting for reading and conversations- it’ by the beach with a lovely view of the sea, filled with shelves of books that can be read there or purchased, and serves great food & coffee.

How did BookHero start?

To put it simply: For the LOVE for ANIMALS!
When we started as an animal welfare initiative almost 20 years back, we encountered two main things; unwanted pets and unwanted books. It was a challenging combination to manage but we found the amazing opportunity to bring affordable books to readers in the region and continued to help people and animals. From this effort to better the community- BookHero was born!

Today we ensure that compassion for all living beings is an essential value to the BookHero tribe.

Apart from selling NEW and PRE-READ books, we offer other services that align with our goal of building a reading nation:

Adding Value To The Community

After establishing a basic business model, we were able to look into spreading the love and care for reading. We want to be the ones to blame whenever you escape the real world for books!
The literary world offers us a multifaceted perspective and allows us to cascade into wonderful social initiatives that benefit both the local and international community with projects such:
“The Traveling BookHero” – Where we send our book donations to underdeveloped countries when anyone travels there as part of their holiday or for work.

"The Free Educational Book Swap" – This scheme, operational since 2016, lets students and parents swap educational books for FREE. We have swapped thousands of educational books over the years and supported hundreds of families across the UAE with low budgets.

Our annual “stray animals sterilization campaign" has allowed us to facilitate nearly 1,600 sterilizations per year. This is a community achievement made possible in collaboration with reputed veterinary clinics in Dubai and contributions from the private sector. We have a helpline for animal welfare issues that responds to over 38,000 queries per year.
